The Great Murder Mystery is London’s cult Sherlock Holmes experience, created by The Lost Estate. After sold-out runs in 2021 and 2024, it returns to London in April 2027 for 12 weeks only.

Yes. At its heart, this is The Hound of the Baskervilles — created by a team of genuine Sherlock Holmes fanatics and rooted as closely as possible in Conan Doyle’s original story and wider canon.

There is one important twist: our story begins where the novel ends. Three months after the events at Baskerville Hall, rumours that the Hound is still at large are gripping Britain. The case was never publicly tried, Fleet Street has seized on the unanswered questions, and Holmes and Watson are finally forced to break their silence.

Your evening begins at their press conference at 221B Baker Street. From there, Watson opens his diary and the Baskerville case comes to life around you.

There are further twists and turns, however you will find no spoilers here.

Demand is exceptionally high already. More than 200,000 people have signed up for the return of The Great Murder Mystery, while there are only around 20,000 tickets available across the entire 12-week run.

Mrs Hudson’s 221b Liquor Cabinet is an experience in itself: decadent cocktails reimagined from forgotten Victorian manuals of mixology, alongside wines, beers, spirits and non-alcoholic options. Expect plenty to explore throughout the night.

Yes. We can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, halal, gluten-free, dairy-free and alcohol-free requirements, as well as most major allergens.

A dietary requirements form must be completed at least 48 hours before your visit. This will be sent by email approximately one week before your performance. If the form is not completed, you will receive the standard menu.

As we offer a set menu, we are unable to accommodate personal preferences outside allergies and intolerances. While every care is taken, our kitchen handles allergens and we cannot guarantee dishes are completely allergen-free due to airborne contamination.

With some of London’s most distinguished lords, ladies and public figures expected at the Baker Street ‘press conference’, Mrs Hudson has made arrangements with the renowned Simpson’s-in-the-Strand to provide a supper befitting such esteemed company. Two splendid courses arrive beneath 
the restaurant’s famous silver domes. Pudding, however, proves a rather more improvised affair, with the press conference running rather longer 
than anticipated…

Yes. Every ticket includes a three-course fine-dining menu by The Lost Estate’s Head Chef, Ben Sutcliffe, woven into the heart of the story.

The menu is inspired by Victorian London’s grand dining rooms, including Simpson’s and The Reform Club, as well as period recipes, the city’s markets and street sellers, and dishes referenced in the Sherlock Holmes stories.

Due to the immersive and tightly timed nature of the experience, late entry may not be possible.

If admission is permitted, you may miss portions of the performance and dining service. Courses missed because of late arrival cannot be re-served, and tickets cannot be refunded or partially refunded because of late arrival.

We strongly recommend arriving with plenty of time to settle into Baker Street before the performance begins.

Yes. A cloakroom is available at the venue, although space is limited. We can accept coats and small overnight bags no larger than standard hand luggage.

There is no photography during the live experience, both for your own enjoyment and to protect the integrity of the performance. After all, it is 1889 — smartphones are rather difficult to explain. However, this is a major social event - the first ever press conference at 221B with the great and good of Victorian London - and so naturally, there will be a photographer in the room to capture photos of Holmes and Watson’s esteemed guests.

This is a night of delicious deception, mixology and murder, so we advise guests are 18+.

The dress code is smart eveningwear befitting the Victorian upper classes. You are London’s social and political elite, summoned by Holmes and Watson to a press conference at 221B Baker Street. This is a major social event and everyone will certainly dress for the occasion. Think velvet jackets, waistcoats, crisp shirts, beautiful dresses and eveningwear with a nineteenth-century flourish.

You do not need a full period costume — although, as ever at The Lost Estate, we wholeheartedly encourage it. Our audiences love making an occasion of the night, and dressing up helps bring the world to life for everyone in the room. So if you are wondering whether you might be overdressed, you almost certainly will not be.

For bookings made during the first week of the ticket release (before 6th November 2026) guests will benefit from complimentary date exchanges (availability allowing) before the end of 2026.

At our discretion, tickets can be exchanged for another performance of the same production if the request is made at least 72 hours before your performance, tickets are available for the alternative date, and the new date falls within the same production run. If approved, an exchange fee per ticket will apply, plus any difference in ticket price if the new performance is more expensive.
