What should I expect?

The Great Murder Mystery is London’s cult Sherlock Holmes experience. For one night only, you are a guest at 221B Baker Street, as the world’s greatest detective reveals his most confounding case to date: a mystery known as The Hound of the Baskervilles. A night of depravity, murder, fine gastronomy and Victorian mixology has begun.

Think of it as a beguiling Victorian bar serving superior drinks and theatrical takes on 19th Century cocktail concoctions, plus an extraordinary restaurant full of gastronomic delights by star Executive Chef Ash Clarke, together with a breathtaking performance of Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous Sherlock Holmes story, The Hound of the Baskervilles, taking place all around you.

In The Great Murder Mystery, we weave these elements into one. The food is part of the story, and the audience sits within the performance. For more than that, you’ll simply have to join us.

What is the food menu?

The Great Murder Mystery’s menu is conjured by The Lost Estate’s Executive Chef Ash Clarke, previously of Temper Soho and the Gordon Ramsay Group.

For The Great Murder Mystery, Ash has fused historical Victorian cooking with modern culinary technique to create three stunning courses of fine gastronomy. We weave the food into the story as the hospitality of 221 Baker Street’s housekeeper, Mrs Hudson.

Look out for a starter inspired by Mr Holmes’ breakfast habits, a main delivered at short notice from the detective’s best-loved restaurant, and a Baskerville Hall favourite for dessert.

Are there non-dining tickets?

All our tickets are dining tickets – our menu is woven into the story, making it an integral part of the experience.

Is this the same show as 2021?

Technically yes, but you’ll barely recognise it. A bigger cast, a reworked story, a vastly bigger venue (our permanent home comprises over 5000sq ft of space for us to transform), a totally new menu from a new Executive Chef, and a perfect cocktail menu, all add up to an experience that’s more immersive, more spellbinding, and more luxurious than the cult original.

If you loved The Great Murder Mystery in 2021, you’ll be wowed all over again in 2024.

How do you cater for dietary and allergen requirements?

All of our ticket types include our 3-course set menu. Whilst we can cater for dietary/allergen requirements, we cannot cater to personal food preferences.

Full allergen information will be available soon.

You must complete a dietary requirements form at least 48 hours before your visit if you have any dietary or allergen requirements, or require the vegetarian or vegan option. The form will be sent to you by email before your visit, and you will be asked again to confirm any dietary or allergen requirements by Front of House staff upon arrival.

We can accommodate pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and most major allergies however there are limitations with severe allergies and some religious requirements.

As allergens are present in our kitchen, we cannot guarantee dishes are 100% allergen-free. We, therefore, advise guests with severe allergies to assess their own level of risk before consuming items from our menu.

We do not have any treatments for anaphylaxis in the venue therefore each guest is responsible for their own medicines or auto-injectors, if needed.

We don’t allow you to bring your own food or drinks to the show and will operate a bag search on entry.

Are drinks included in my ticket?

Drinks are not included in the ticket price, except for VIP Dining which includes 1 glass of champagne and 1 nightcap per person.

Our in-house bar offers a fantastic menu of cocktails, wines, beers and non-alcoholic drinks. We are a cashless venue but accept all major debit and credit cards.

Is there a dress code?

Nothing is compulsory at The Great Murder Mystery, you can come as you wish.

However, we would love to see you dressed up. Whether that’s your Victorian best or more contemporary finery, nothing makes a night here more special than a room full of London’s most upstanding ladies and gentlemen.

And in case you’re worried you’ll be alone… the majority of guests attend our events dressed up. So go for it.

Can I take photos and videos?

Absolutely! However, we please ask that you be mindful of others around you. Please keep the flash off and the screen brightness low, particularly during moments of theatrical performance.

Do I have to act?!

No! There may be opportunities to become more involved with the performance, but not without your express permission!

What is The Lost Estate?

The Lost Estate are the people behind The Great Murder Mystery. We create live, immersive productions, fusing theatre, live music, stunning dining, and creative cocktail mixology into one unforgettable experience.

We were founded in 2017 by three musicians, who dreamt of turning the stories of great art into transformational shared experiences. In 2022 we found a permanent home – a 5000sq ft former factory in London’s West Kensington.

Our previous experiences include sell-out hits The Great Christmas Feast and The Greatest Night of the Jazz Age. If you’re joining us again, we look forward to welcoming you back.
